Good morning Buttercups. It’s the dawning of a new age era.
Taylor Swift is getting married.
Here at Running On Butter, we see this future union as a sign of hope for mankind. In a world aiming to deconstruct the good, the beautiful, and the true, it’s cool to see the world’s most famous person choose the institution of marriage.
I predict Taylor and Travis will be the catalyst for a societal-wide shift. Consider this: in 1970, only 9% of Americans ages 25 to 50 had never been married. By 2018, that number had jumped to 35%.
For a few generations now, we’ve been conditioned to think poorly of the institution. Either as something to avoid in the pursuit of a career, or as a nice add-on to life. To many, it’s essentially a good reason for a great party.
But the zeitgeist is shifting, and I think it’s heading toward being pro-matrimony.
Wishing you the best Travis and Taylor.
Speaking of zeitgeist shifts…: Socialism is trending these days and I couldn’t be happier. Every day I wake up not living in Venezuela or Cuba or the USSR feels like the next worst day of my life.
History has proven this system and way of life works out really well. Which is why I’m stoked to see what kind of fruit it will bear in NYC, where socialist Zohran Mamdani is set to be the new mayor.
Last week, Mamdani tried flexing his cool gym bro image in Brooklyn by hopping on the bench press. He failed a 135 pound rep.
That might sound like a red flag in a leader to many Americans, but in New York, he’s essentially just sealed the deal. You see, muscles and working out and protein are very MAGA-coded. Mamdani passed this test with flying colors, as far as I’m concerned.
Counting down the days till we get state run grocery stores. They look sick. Great recipes for rotten acorn squash here.
A new study evaluating the protein intake of 16,000 people found no association between animal protein and increased mortality. It actually found the opposite: animal protein was protective against cancer mortality.
This study is sorta interesting, but it’s silly to me that we’re still funding large observational nutritional studies. They’re prone to massive errors and usually cause more confusion than clarity.
We don’t need more studies to tell us that meat, a nutrient-dense powerhouse that mankind has cherished since we got ousted from Eden, is okay.
Artificial sweeteners causing early puberty: Precocious puberty—when children hit puberty earlier than normal—is rising among girls. Early puberty is tied to a host of unwanted health complications. One clear culprit is the flood of endocrine-disrupting chemicals packed into most girls’ personal care products.
But researchers are now pointing to another factor: artificial sweeteners. A new study found that aspartame and sucralose may accelerate puberty by altering gut bacteria and the hormones that drive development.
It’s one of the first studies to seriously examine how our modern diet might be reshaping normal growth patterns. “What children eat and drink, especially products with sweeteners, may have a surprising and powerful impact on their development,” the study’s author noted.
Drinks with a lot of artificial sweeteners:
Celsius, Monster, Bang, Red Bull, etc.
Diet Coke + any other zero calorie/sugar-free soda
Alani Nu energy drinks
Most workout supplements like pre-workout and protein powders
I think Spindrift must’ve read my recent piece on alcohol because they’re discontinuing their spiked line. “As more consumers reassess their relationship with alcohol, we’re excited to double down on our core Spindrift products.” Sobriety isn’t easy but it is worth it.
Justin Timberlake has Lyme disease. This is not how we bring sexy back.
Emma Heming Willis, wife of Bruce Willis, has released a book about his decline since being diagnosed with aphasia. I have two thoughts: First, she turned her husband’s tragic diagnosis into a book deal for herself, which doesn’t look very classy. Second, Bruce doesn’t have the capacity to consent to what’s being shared about his life and health. It makes me uncomfortable and sad.
What’s not sad is this great little Nike documentary on the UK’s best distance runners.
“This is not how we bring sexy back.” 🤣🤣
Lyme disease is no joke... But he might be part of the illuminati, so I'm sure they have the cure
