Leanna thank you for being the Running On Butter Cupid. Really appreciate that.
And yes - I was actually just talking with my friend about how when it comes to eggs, going pasture-raised is totally worth it. Both the yolk and white quality are 10x better. I love Vital Farms' eggs.
Whenever I wouldn’t know what to make to host another family people often suggested tacos. I think because it is typically the cheap and easy dinner. But trying to avoid seed oils and eat grass fed beef no longer makes that a simple and cheap meal. 🫠
I agree with your take! Free market and I’m sure quality but such a bummer that there are not stricter regulations for our food in general so we instead have to pay more for someone else’s regulations in their own product.
Another well written post, ROB! Being in the "health and wellness world" I find a huge disconnect in placing a hefty price tag in the name of health. I love how you wrote this post, admiring the free marketplace, but also acknowledging we don't need to take out a second mortgage in order to enjoy a potato fried in beef fat.
Eat local! Make friends at your farmers market, and buy bulk produce in your area, you get tremendous (and real) health benefits that supplements will never be able to replace. Plus, you create connections in your own community.
(not meant to be a shameless plug to my most recent Substack post... but hey!)
😂🤣 I passed the Masa chips up today while at Sprouts. Nope. I can make them myself with my own tallow. I’ve tried the expensive stuff. I just can’t do it regularly so I choose in my price range. However I did switch to Primally Pure and live all their products. Not cheap but work and last so I don’t mind splurging there.
I think what it comes down to is we each have to decide for ourselves what we can and can't live without- in the name of health. Some cannot live without chips. I can. Like you, I gave up seed oils a few years back. Which, for me at that time as someone who was already a decade into mostly-clean eating, meant giving up frozen pizza. I loooved frozen pizza. But now I don't even think about it. I will, however, spend all the money raising our beef cows. And I do love a good protein powder from Equip because it keeps me stable. But we just can't have it all. And that's okay.
I recently looked up MASA, thinking I might order some for a special treat. I can't, I just can't spend that on a SNACK. If I'm so inclined, I can fry my homemade corn tortillas in lard or tallow. I'll never know if they're not as good, but that's ok!
Message Alex Clark, she posted about you butter boy!! Shoot your shot! 🧈❤️
ROBxCulture Apothecary is the power couple MAHA needs. Forwarding this to her team.
Consider using your chip savings to upgrade your egg selection to pasture raise. Or if that’s still too cost prohibitive, at least free range!

Let me know when taco Tuesday goes down and I'll there!
And yes - really hoping that the MAHA team will make American food standards similar to European standards!
Love this 🤣 it’s outrageous. I cut up corn tortillas and put them in a toaster oven.
So smart Jodi!
Noted for next time. Will save me both emotionally and financially!
