Matthew 19:24 – “And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”
Beautifully written and said! I live just outside of the Hamptons. What you described is very accurate. I can attest to the Godlessness. It’s actually like this across much of Long Island and sadly, is very hard to find a Biblically sound church anywhere out here.
Spot on. My husband works for UHNW families and we do not know one family that is happy and they are all miserable in their marriages. They need Jesus! I’d much rather have less money and Jesus than all the riches of the world.
My parents and I have spent over 10 years in the hamptons and I will say, it is what you make of it. Not everyone is like that and in east Hampton we attend the Catholic Church on Sundays which is filled with people.
I live in the Hamptons of Michigan — down to the hydrangeas and yacht signs. Every word of this is true. When you have everything, why would you need a savior? Truly, “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven”. But we keep trying 🫶🏻 and the there are churches here who still adhere to Scripture offering the truth to those who will here. God is at work in northern MI and the Hamptons, but the kind of oppression in these places is never eradicated without prayer (and even fasting)!
Jesus brings a peace and contentment our carnal nature desires. It is heartbreaking to watch people search for that contentment and peace in worldly things while denying it daily by refusing to give their lives to Christ.
Thank you for this view of a life without Jesus. We lived on Cape Cod for years with the same people…and the remedy is the same…Jesus!
As I read your thoughtful words, I was so thankful to know that you and Alex found one another…she is blessed to have you by her side ❤️

Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me,
lest I be full and deny you
and say, “Who is the Lord?”
or lest I be poor and steal
and profane the name of my God.
Proverbs 30:8-9

Praying for Brad, maybe he'll give me a watch. ha!
Preach!

This reminds me a lot of John Piper’s analogy in Don’t Waste Your Life. It’s a tragedy to be collecting seashells at then end of your life
Preach sir!
Here for the pink hydrangeas. And the Gospel message.
Well-said, Vance. Life with Jesus is the only Way.
This was beautiful writing, thank you for sharing the truth!
